About CDLCourtAssist

CDLCourtAssist is a free educational resource created to support judges, court clerks, and court personnel in the accurate adjudication and reporting of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) cases.

The site was developed and is led by Justice Gary A. Graber (Ret.), a nationally recognized authority on CDL adjudication and CMV law. Justice Graber served the Town of Darien, New York for over 42 years, retiring in 2023 after a judicial career that began in 1980.

Since 2008, Justice Graber has served as a Judicial Ambassador, alumnus, and faculty member of the National Judicial College, where he has educated judges nationwide on CDL and CMV legal issues. His work includes curriculum development, sentencing chart design, and the delivery of judicial education through in‑state programs, national webcasts, and specialized traffic court training across more than 30 states.

Bringing a unique combination of judicial and industry experience, Justice Graber is a former CDL holder and terminal manager with more than four decades in the transportation industry. This practical background strengthens CDLCourtAssist’s mission to promote compliance, accuracy, and public safety in CDL‑related court proceedings.

In addition to his judicial education work, Justice Graber has served on multiple statewide committees, taught for the New York State Judicial Institute and Office of Court Administration, and is a past president and honorary member of the Court Clerks Association through the New York State Magistrates Association.

CDLCourtAssist exists to provide clear guidance, reliable reference materials, and practical tools to help courts navigate the complex requirements surrounding CDL adjudication and reporting—supporting roadway safety and the integrity of the judicial process nationwide
